Minding Our Business
Minding Our Business (MOB) is a community-based research project that focuses on addressing the mental health needs of youth in Eastern North Carolina. Examining social and environmental determinants of mental health is a critical component of the research. As such, we are focusing specifically on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and racism/racial injustice on the mental health of youth. MOB utilizes an intergenerational and multi-disciplinary approach, that can inform the development of community-based mental health promotion outreach products.
We are recruiting African American Youth between the ages of 12-18 years, who live in Edgecombe, Nash or Wilson Counties. Youth who are interested in sharing their experiences should ask their parents to contact us! We would welcome the opportunity to tell you more about the study!

Valiant Families Youth Mental Health Counseling
Youth balance a lot of things. They have academics, family responsibilities, social dynamics, and so many other things to navigate. It is great when they are able to express themselves and gain insight into how to best handle it all.
Sometimes it is easier for students and families to connect with people they do not see on a regular basis. Valiant Families is a community agency that is partnering with Project Momentum and other community agencies to offer free counseling for youth!
